In 1982 Fiennes; an ex member of the SAS, and Charles Burton became the first men in history to reach both Poles, cross Antarctica and the Atlantic Ocean and circumnavigate the Earth on its polar axis.

2nd November 2003 he completed his final marathon out of seven which he ran on seven continents in seven days.
